Age: 29
Current Characters: N/A
Character Name: Ryoji Mochizuki
Character Canon: Persona 3
Canon Point: From the female MC route, before the Dark Hour at December 2nd.
Age: "17" - technically he is much older, as the concept of death has existed in this world since time immemorial, but he very much acts like a teenager.
Crime: Helplessness; To be unable to change one's fate. When Ryoji learned of his true role as the harbinger of the Fall, he was convinced that defeating him or Nyx is impossible, and that his friends were doomed to suffer a painful death. This belief had the potential to convince the main character to take his suggestion of killing him, therefore ridding SEES of any chance to prevent The Fall.
Background: Wiki.
Personality: Charming and lively, Ryoji is not a hard person to befriend. He is a very sociable guy - he sincerely enjoys company, and the focus on the spotlight it gives him. There is a bit of imprudence towards his actions, ranging from playful to insensitive, some of which gets him into trouble. Ryoji's flirtatious nature is the most prominent example of this - he has a tendency to invite others out, especially girls, to the extent that others see him as a playboy. Most of the time, though, he has no romantic intent behind such things: he merely just wants to get to know others better, and sometimes to admire them within arm's reach.
Abilities: Ryoji is a Shadow, a being born from human emotions. They are the "offspring" of Nyx, wherein her psyche exists within the collective unconscious of humanity. One could say that Ryoji is a part of Nyx, destined to assimilate with her. Those who are sensitive to his nature may feel unsettled around him, even though they may be unable to pinpoint the reason why. It is implied that even in human form, Ryoji still has access to his abilities - although we do not see the fight itself, he manages to singlehandedly take down Aigis unscathed.
Shadows can be dispersed but they do not "die", not when they can eventually reform or become part of a greater Shadow once defeated. (And really, is it even possible for the concept of Death to be killed?) Ryoji himself is an amalgamation of the twelve powerful Shadows that S.E.E.S has managed to defeat. They have no need to eat nor sleep, although Ryoji himself experiences hunger and exhaustion and is oblivious to his immortality.
(His immortality is definitely going to be nerfed because being essentially unkillable is just unfair, man. Most likely he would be more durable than a regular human, but he could be harmed just like any other.)
Ryoji's true form as a Shadow is Thanatos. In Persona 3, the ultimate persona of the Death arcana takes this form as it is a representation of the protagonist's bond with Pharos. Therefore, it should be safe to assume that Ryoji!Thanatos possesses the same abilities as Persona!Thanatos. Thanatos is depicted as a brutal fighter, responsible for giving the protagonist a literal headache the first time they summoned a Persona. While he wields a long sword he also isn't afraid to get his hands dirty...literally.
There is also the Nyx Avatar, the form he takes as he brings down The Fall. In this form his connection to Nyx is at its strongest and therefore it is at his most powerful, displayed by his gigantic sword, gigantic wings, and gigantic number of phases. While the Nyx Avatar seems to be aware of his existence as his identities, including Ryoji, he is more inhuman in this form, and his personality has a more god-like edge to it. As Nyx does not necessarily exist in this world, his connection to her is diluted and chances are he would not take upon this form...unless some plot shenanigans take place.
Since Ryoji is taken before regaining his memories as Death he is currently unaware that he has these abilities in the first place. They can and will manifest in times of great duress, and it will be up to him to learn how to use it afterwards.

Samples: TDM top level, Sample 2
Questions: While technically I am going with the Persona 3 Portable version of Ryoji, is it okay to also include aspects of the movies/Reload to his canon? I personally think that they are pretty cohesive together, and it will help me flesh out his character considering he is only in the game for barely a month.

All in all Ryoji doesn’t mean any harm, and most of his mistakes stem more from his naivety. There are social clues or turns of phrase that he does not fully understand, some of which he tries to explain due to the time he has spent overseas - in truth this is because he has not lived long as a human, and his personality was only born during his time spent with Kotone. This obliviousness has rendered him immune from hostility or signs of dislike directed towards him - such mistakes can hardly dampen his cheerful personality.
He’s not all just smiles, though. Ryoji is someone who genuinely cares for his friends, and often he would do his best to try and cheer them up. What he lacks in understanding social cues he makes up for it in his understanding of human compassion: there are moments where he shows a sliver of wisdom, where his thoughts of contemplation can show his knowledge of what someone may need emotionally. Ryoji always has his friends in mind, and would want nothing more than to give them a life free of suffering.
Ryoji has his melancholic episodes, too. Even though he is currently unaware of his nature as Death, there is a part of him that subconsciously knows that what he has is ephemeral: everything ends, and a part of him knows that despite his wishes, his time as Ryoji Mochizuki is only temporary. He recognizes this as fact, and yet he does not want to lose those whom he cares about. This current uncertainty gives him a kind of sorrow that he tries to cover with his usual amicability.
Strictly speaking, his existence in itself is a miracle, for Death is not supposed to gain a personality. And yet what Death has gained as Ryoji is a love for humanity and the life they have chosen to live. His behavior all stems from this singular fact. He actively seeks out adventure and new things, because to him, everything in this world is something to be appreciated. The unfamiliar does not faze him; he takes almost everything in stride, always taking new experiences as an opportunity to grow. He is greatly interested in relationships and connections - he loves the bonds formed between people, and he also loves to have those connections for himself. Ryoji is someone who thinks of life as precious, and insists on living in the moment.
